Raw Porphyry Blocks

Raw Porphyry Blocks

Since Porphyry Hardscape company extracted all the products originally from its own proprietary quarries, the primary category of its products are Porphyry raw blocks which comes in four attractive colors of Violet, Red, Green and Rainbow.

Porphyry is found close to the earth surface and carried out from the open excavation lots using drills, hammers, chemicals and cutting wires. These techniques break large chunks of Porphyry away from the quarry so that it can be transported and used in a number of ways. The extraction method is characterized according to the condition of the quarry and the requirements of the customers.

Wedging method

This method of quarrying is one of the oldest and least expensive methods of Porphyry extraction. The process includes drilling holes through the rock and then using wedges or plugs. These plugs are then fired simultaneously with a hammer. The rock slabs split along the least resistance lines through the holes and the blocks are detached from their surroundings.

Expanding grout method

Expanding method is a non-explosive demolition agent used for breaking rocks. It is designed to provide job sites with non-explosive solutions for the demolition of rock in environmentally friendly manner.

The process includes drilling holes through the rock and then using a cracking agent that comes in powder form, which when mixed with water expands and produces an extreme pressure. Finally, after a few hours the tensile strength of the rock are overcome by the cracking agent and the blocks are detached from their surroundings.

Diamond wire cutting

The Modern diamond wire saws are large machines that cut through the bottom of a quarry block or slab allowing it to be detached from its surroundings. Diamond wire cutting uses wire embedded with an abrasive to cut through a material. The hardness of the diamonds ensures that this method of cutting is accurate and effective on any material that’s softer than diamond, which is practically everything.

At the end, the slabs detached from their surroundings by each of the mentioned methods are called Porphyry raw blocks. Once the blocks extracted, they can be sold without any further processing as primary products or they can be transferred for next fabrication and processing steps.
